Soccer and a final cross country meet

Bobby and Emmy have been enjoying soccer and took their team photos last weekend.

The kids also participated in the final cross country 1/2 mile run of the season.  The both tried their best and did very well.  Bobby ran with the third grade boys as an illegal entry (his dad's idea) and he was so proud to keep up with them.  That group had 3 false starts but Bobby ran with a smile once they finally got started.  Grandma Launa was there too and we all thought Bobby may have placed higher if he ran a straight trajectory instead of weaving back and forth and almost tripping about 15 times during the race.  I took him for a smoothie afterwards to celebrate while Emmy headed to basketball practice.

BIO girls 5K and grandparents day at school

Emmy and I got our glow on at our BIO girls Glow Run 5K last Friday night.  We put our glow in the dark tattoos, unicorn shirts and lip gloss.  We took photos and geared up in even more glow sticks.  It was 40 deg and raining but we toughed it out and started the run around 8:30.  We started off tired and cold and Emmy almost immediately got a side ache.  She wanted to stop but I gave her a pep talk and she started to run....and ran....and ran...and didn't stop until we reached the finish.  She ran 3 miles in under 30 minutes!  We passed her friends, the college aged runners and many others on our way to the finish.  I could not have been prouder of her for staying strong and perservering.  She and her BIO girl friends have worked hard all summer and this was a great way to cap it off.

It was grandparents day at the kids' school and they had Grandma Candy, Grandpa Bob AND Grandpa Kelly.  They were so excited when Bob and Candy picked them up from school for breakfast.  Then cowboy Kelly joined in and Emmy read to her grandpas.  I heard that in Bobby's classroom Bobby spent half the hour on Grandpa Kelly's lap and that his cowboy attire was a hit with the kids in the class.  The kids are so lucky to have these grandparents and all this love!

Emmy's class has a facebook page and the teacher shares pictures and updates from the class.  Emmy has been doing good deeds on the daily and so she is often featured.
Emmy had her last Bio girls practice and she brought some thank you flowers and a card she made for her mentors.
I had some really good fans at my 5K.  It wasn't my best time or race but it sure was fun to run into the finish to see my parents, kids, husband.  I finished in 21 minutes and ran a 6:48 pace this time around.

My women's team once again came in first!  I ran the longest leg - 6.6 and my pace was 7:15.  I caught the team ahead of us and put us into first and Heather ran a great leg to give us the win.  We won those black jackets and more importantly we enjoyed it.  I wasn't the only Eckert exercising that day since the kids both had soccer games and Emmy had a basketball game as well.  The weather was chilly but at least by the time the kids had their events the rain had stopped.

Annual trip to the pumpkin patch was last Sunday and the kids really enjoyed it.  We bought two small pumpkins for our grandmas and visited them now that they both have moved in to the nursing home.

Emmy has been inspired to run in a cross country meet and she completed the 1/2 mile run this week.  She had some coughing issues and a side ache but she still ran the whole way and finished.  I was proud of her tenacity!  I hope she continues to enjoy running as I do.

Bobby lost another tooth, Emmy makes her own dress up days

Bobby lost his second tooth in the top row.  He told me he now has a bit of a wisp!  I told him I think he meant to say lisp?

Emmy told me that she and her friends wanted to dress as nerds for school today.  This apparently meant big glasses...mis matching clothes, a pencil behind her ear, pig tails.  She chose her outfit and was excited to see her friends at school.  I took a picture of them and they were really having fun with this today.

Videos of the wins!

Summer is winding down, but the fun continues!

Bobby's friend Thomas had a fun party for his birthday at the Amusement Park.  Bobby got a bit wet!

Emmy and I enjoyed a girls day - mane/pedis, smoothies while chatting and baking blue cupcakes with caramel frosting together (her choice).  We then cuddled up to a movie and slept in the same bed together while the boys were away at the ranch.
Bobby saw Kyla working in the garden and decided to start helping her pick beans

Bobby went fishing at the ranch and caught a monster catfish he pulled in with the net.  He was so excited.  He has a new fishing hat his dad bought him that he is also quite fond of.

Ran the Almont street races again this year and both Bobby and Emmy pulled out wins!  They were thrilled with another year of being ahead of the pack.  They each won 2$!
