Volleyball Camp

While Emmy has been at her volleyball camp in the afternoon Bobby and I have had some time to visit some new places.  We went to a park where Bobby was more interested in using the adult exercise equipment than the play ground equipment designed for kids.  He is really proud when he "exercises" and so he spent time on the chest press and then after every few reps he would check to see if his muscles had grown.  This was adorable!

I stopped by to watch Emmy's vball tournament on the last day of camp and found my old 4 X 200 m relay team record.  It was fun to see that the record still stands!

Emmy won player of the day on Tuesday this week and on the last day of the camp (today) she earned the Smiley award and was voted by her teammates as the winner of the Spirit award as well.  Receiving the spirit award meant she got a vball keychain.  She gaves lots of high fives, cheered for her teammates and did have a smile on for the entire time I watched her.  When she got her award her brother cheered loudly for her as well (I did too).  Grandma Launa came to watch.  The kids also gave me lots of birthday hugs, kisses and art projects for my birthday today.  I've lived a lot of really happy years since starting a family with Robb and really can't have a bad day with the blessings I have in my life, especially the kids.  Love these two so much!

Heritage center visit, 2nd annual Run for Blood cancers and some other odds and ends

Robb and I cleaned out our storage space the other night and I came across some pics from when I was a little one.  I thought there were some definite similarities between me and my littles!

Kids and I went to the Heritage center last week and they had so much fun.  They wanted to see Dakota the dinosaur they both read about that was discovered in ND but they got distracted first by the indoor tree house exhibit that kids can now play in.
Team Eckert ran in the 2nd annual race for Blood Cancer.  I got 2nd in the 10K on a very hot, humid day and then I caught up with the kids walking the 5K.  They really understood the importance of the race this year and ran in their Grandpa's honor!

Wedding dance fun and a stop in Fargo

We headed to Fergus Falls this past weekend for Robb's cousin's wedding.  Bobby was a dancing King out there and couldn't wait to get started.  He and I hokey pokied, chicken danced, slow danced, fast danced.  He loved it.  It took a few songs to get Emmy out there.

Bobby really wanted to dance with Emerson, in fact he told me he had saved his first dance for her.  Unfortunately Emmy wasn't ready to dance when the first song came on but once we all got warmed up she joined him and had a great time!

One of the sweetest moments of the weekend came when this little girl grabbed Bobby's hands and started dancing with him.  He looked surprised and happy to oblige her.  She definitely led the dance and in between dances she gave him hugs.  He was so kind to her and I was so proud of my little gentleman!

Babies and little girls LOVE Emmy and she loves to play and entertain them.  It was so much fun to see the kids be kind to other kids, they were a hit at the dance.  I really enjoyed the family time with them.  Around 10:00 Bobby climbed into my lap and told me he was ready to sleep so we headed back to the hotel room for a family sleepover.  Both kids wanted to sleep with me but I rarely sleep with Bobby because he is a wiggly sleeper and I'm a light sleeper.  I lasted a couple hours before I asked Robb to switch spots with me, slept for a few hours and then sneakily got back into bed with Bobby before he woke up.

On the way home we stopped in Fargo and played at an indoor park.  Bobby was soaked with sweat!  We then headed to lunch at Chucky Cheese.   Hard to say who enjoyed the games more the kids or Robb and I.  Bobby is very lucky and good at most games, some we teamed up in to score more tickets and that was a blast.  In the end we definitely wore out Emmy who slept part of the way home.....not Bobby though!

New Science Center experiments

Emmy and Bobby were really into the new experiments at the Science Center yesterday.  There was an air tunnel that you could make paper cups fly up into.  Emmy found that the more holes meant the more aerodynamic and she was very excited when her created made it all the way up to the top.
Bobby really liked creating air pressure which caused the plastic bottles to pop straight up in the air and make a loud noise.

Emmy worked really hard at practicing surgery at this station.  She was very serious about accomplishing the tasks.
This station was about making it rain and creating landscapes and hills, valleys, lakes.  Emmy and I both enjoyed this station.
Bobby played with some trucks, cars, people at a balancing station.  Emmy played some music and the pipe resonator station.
I took the kids to vote with me and then we finished the afternoon off with frozen yogurt.
Bible school has the last day today, the kids have really enjoyed it.  They wrote and created thank you cards for their teachers and gave the cards to the teachers.  Bobby wanted to do some of the same designs (crosses, hearts) on his cards that Emmy had done.  He asked if I'd help him since he couldn't draw those easily.  Emmy got very competitive and insisted that Bobby disclose to the teachers that I had done the artwork not him so they wouldn't think he was better at drawing.  When that didn't work she tried to guilt Bobby saying, "Don't you think it would be nice for mom to get some credit for making those cards too when you give them to the teachers?"

We went to BisMarket last weekend and the kids played and ate waffles from the waffle food truck.  They loved their food and their fun there.
Emmy often makes me messages with her art.  This one says I Heart You.
Emmy made her brother a guinea pig mask and named him Guinea.  He was to play the part by crawling around on his hands, knees with his tongue hanging out while she called for him to "come, Guinea"  Oh the things Bobby does for his sister!

One of the places the kids love to go is the Pet Store.  They enjoy watching the animals there and now Emmy can read about them too.

We crossed DQ off of our list yesterday.  Emmy's ice cream melted and fell onto the ground....but, never fear mom fixed that problem and we got another dilly bar to go.
